Case Study: Summit High School, OR

Bend La-Pine Schools Online began in 2005, offering online courses to high school
students across the district. Typically, students used this program to recover credits but
that has changed significantly. During the 2015–2016 school year Summit students
completed 36 Advanced Placement (AP) and honors courses, 1,037 core and standard
courses, and 241 credit recovery courses.

Fuel Education (FuelEd) provides the online courses used by Bend La-Pine Schools
Online. These online courses are taught by Oregon certified teachers, employed by
FuelEd. The online courses are part of the FuelEd core, honors, AP, foundations, and
credit recovery curricula. Bend-La Pine Schools Online uses the Blackboard learning
management system that FuelEd packages with its courses.
