Use this guide to accompany Lesson 2.15, Semester A. Extended Problems FLORIDA STANDARDS • MAFS.8.EE.3.7b. Solve linear equations with rational number coefficients, including equations whose solutions require expanding expressions using the distributive property and collecting like terms. PACING One class period, approximately 60 minutes OFFLINE LEARNING: EQUATIONS The Extended Problems give students an opportunity to use higher-order thinking and critical reasoning skills to apply what they have learned about equations. Students complete these extended response problems offline and submit their responses to be graded. LESSON GOALS • Write an expression to model a real-world situation. • Write a linear equation to represent a real-world problem. • Solve a linear equation that represents a real-world situation and interpret the answer in the context of the problem.
