For this assignment, students are given a real-world scenario in which they need to buy soda for a party. In order to determine which is the most economical (a 6-pack of cans, an 8-pack of cans, or a 2 liter bottle), students must find the unit price. Students then go online and find the price of two different sizes of the same product at their local grocery store. Students find the unit price for each and post their results. To participate in the discussion, students will respond to another student's post by determining which size of the product is the better buy and explaining why. Each student will also respond to replies made by other students on his or her own post throughout the unit. Make sure to review student responses regularly.
