Use this guide to accompany Lesson 6.12, Semester A. Function Stories LESSON GOALS • Describe the real-world relationship between two quantities depicted on a graph. FLORIDA STANDARDS • MAFS.8.F.2.5 Describe qualitatively the functional relationship between two quantities by analyzing a graph (e.g., where the function is increasing or decreasing, linear or nonlinear). PACING One class period, approximately 60 minutes LEARN MATHCAST: FUNCTION STORIES In this MathCast, the graph of a bike trip is analyzed. The altitude is decreasing in Parts A and C. In Part B, the altitude is constant, so the biker could be resting. The horizontal distance for each part tells how much time it takes.
