Motivating Students to Learn Academic English

February 17, 2017

As the English Language Learner (ELL) Intervention Coordinator at Alliance Jack H. Skirball Middle School in the Los Angeles Unified School District, Crystal McQueen runs an ELL intervention pull-out program designed to narrow the gaps in English skills between her non-native English language students and their peers. This case study provides perspective on the features offered through the ELL curriculum, how LAUSD is using the curriculum to help students, and how students are responding positively.
